Beware of Google Placement Promises
The link above is a great video from Matt Cutts discussing how many try to “cheat” Google or “game the system” for search engine rankings. The clue is, if someone promises you first page placement, then they are doing something that is not considered legitimate by Google. Over the years it has taken many forms, but web links are the current fashion, and Google is great at ferreting them out, and penalizing the website for playing dirty.
What Google wants to see is legitimate relevancy in the industry, and legitimate rankings based on the importance of the website and the information contained therein.
